This winter exhibit features the fishing vessels of Japanese-Canadians seized after the attack on Pearl Harbour. Nearly 1,200 Japese-Canadian owned fishing boats were confiscated by Canadian officials on the British Columbia coast and sold off to non-Japanese fisherman, which had longstanding affects seen even to this day.

Part of a series of monthly talks the theme of this talk is BC Seamounts.

“Seamounts-underwater mountains that rise more than 1,000 metres (3,280 feet) from the seafloor – are offshore biodiversity hotspots.”

As little about these areas Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Haida Nation, Oceana Canada and Ocean Networks Canada embarked on an expedition to explore the seamounts near the island of Haida Gwaii. Discover that they found and the role the Royal BC Museum plays in safeguarding these specimens.

Enjoy this live competitive painting competition. Each painter gets 20 minutes to work while patrons move around the easel closely watching the creative process.
